Summary:

The Banquet Manager responsibility include planning, organizing and executing events based on their client's budget, schedule and other specifications outlined in the banquet event order. Responsible for maximizing customer satisfaction and hotel profitability by supervising the hotel's service of banquet function and ensuring that it is in accordance with specific standards. This is a fast-paced position that will involve constant customer interaction. They must be professional, service orientated, polite, and reliable. Must be able to learn and describe food proficiently. Must adhere to all state, federal, and corporate liquor regulations pertaining to the serving of alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests, ensuring all laws are followed.

Essential Job Functions and Primary Responsibilities:

* Directly oversee the actual set-up and service of contracted functions by giving specific menu information to the servers, by coordinating the timing of the dinner with the Chef and by assigning functions to the Captains to ensure their success.
* Ensure all new and existing staff are fully trained using the Harbor View training materials and standards.
* Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the financial responsibilities to meet our budget needs.
* Prioritize and organize work assignments, and delegate responsibilities to all Banquet Staff
* Ability to motivate staff and maintain a cohesive team.
* Ability to work cohesively with other departments as part of a team.
* Work well under pressure, monitoring and coordinating all departmental functions.
* Maintain discretion and confidentiality of all guests and pertinent hotel information.
* Exhibit a 'hands-on' approach to training, developing and working alongside employees and a commitment to individual growth.
* Hire, train, supervise and discipline all Banquet and Houseman staff.
* Conduct and facilitate effective meetings through established agendas, effective use of time and clear objectives.
* Prepare clear and concise correspondence, memos, letters, instructions and reports.
* Contribute directly to the departmental profit through effective use of forecast data, proper scheduling, responding to business fluctuation.
* Ensure the correct and consistent service techniques for various meal periods will be demonstrated by all staff members
* Prepare staff schedules, daily and weekly payroll and gratuity as required by the Controller.
* Constantly monitor the staff's appearance, attitude, and degree of professionalism to ensure their strict adherence to The Harbor View Hotel's standards of quality service. All staff must greet all guests as they enter with a smile and make eye contact with the guest.
* Ascertain a guest's satisfaction and handle any problem, which may arise informing the Food and Beverage manager of the problem and how it was resolved.
* Maintain a high standard regarding personal appearance as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
* Check the schedule on a regular basis for changes. Arrive at your work area at the time listed on the schedule
* Be aware of appearance, quality of work, and attitudes with guests.
* Prevent unsafe conditions. Properly handle and report employee or guest accidents.
* Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by the F&B Manager, Executive Chef or General Manager.

Qualifications Required:

* 3-4 years Food & Beverage serving and/or related Food & Beverage experience.
* Minimum 2 years Food and Beverage management experience.
* Knowledge of fine service, cost control in F&B, labor controls, special event planning and execution, menu writing, maintenance, merchandising and accounting
* Be a clear thinker, analyze and resolve problems exercising good judgment.
* Excellent people skills possess a positive, outgoing and naturally curious personality.
* Ability to follow all the Harbor View Hotel standards policies and procedures.
* Ability to work productively with other employees as part of a team.
* Ability to handle obstacles in a positive and professional manner and to effectively communicate these problems, along with suggested solutions
* Legal ability to work in the US.
* Excellent reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English Language. Ability to perform basic arithmetic
* 3-4 years Food & Beverage serving and/or related Food & Beverage experience.
* Ability to work a flexible workweek including nights, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications Desired:

* College degree, preferably in hotel/restaurant management.
* Previous guest relations training
* Experience in the hospitality industry in a similar position.
* TIPS certification, CPR Certification
* Prior experience with Delphi, Agilisys Visual One
