The Labor and Delivery/Maternal Special Care Unit (LDR/MSCU) at Tufts Medical Center and Floating Hospital for Children specializes in caring for women throughout the child bearing cycle. Our multidisciplinary team cares for healthy mothers and babies, as well as mothers with complex diseases and high- risk pregnancies. The LDR/MSCU team thrives in a fast-paced environment that is professional, collaborative and respectful, and shares a common goal of providing the highest level of Family Centered Care. Family Centered Care as the focus of all that we do. The LDR/MSCU team consists of specially trained high risk perinatal nurses who come alongside and champion women and families during one of the most intimate, critical moments in their lives; expert Maternal Fetal Medicine Physicians, Obstetricians, Surgical Technicians, Unit Coordinators, Social Workers, Case Managers and Lactation Consultants. # Responsibilities: As a Professional Registered Nurse (RN) on the LDR/MSCU you will demonstrate and apply the skills and judgment necessary to implement the nursing plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures necessary for the care of the patient and family based upon critical thinking skills and the spirit of inquiry. The ideal RN utilizes theoretical evidence based knowledge while adhering to the standards of nursing practice embedded in research, evidence based practice/and or best practices, and partnering with patients and families. As an RN you are a champion for quality, safety, regulatory and patient-family satisfaction. Professional Development is important at Tufts Medical Center and employees are encouraged to participate in Nursing Grand Rounds, precepting, Unit Practice Councils, committees, and unit-based research with a focus on advancing nursing practice and the care provided to our patients and families. # Requirements: Bachelor#s Degree in Nursing required. Current MA Registered Nurse license required. BLS certification required. NRP certification required. ACLS certification strongly preferred. Telemetry certification preferred. A minimum of one year of Obstetrics (OB) experience as a Professional Registered Nurse is required. Knowledge and skills to provide age specific care including knowledge of growth and development, ability to interpret and analyze age specific data and provide age specific communication required.# Please note: Scheduling may consist of both 8 and 12 hour shifts The home unit for this position is the Labor # Delivery Unit (LDR); the position is clustered with the Mother Infant Unit (MIU) and Maternal Special Care Unit (MSCU). You may be scheduled to work on the unit you are clustered to off of your home unit.
