The Town of Brookline is seeking a PT Recreation Therapy Behavioral Specialist to support our Therapeutic Recreation Division. Under the general direction of the Therapeutic Recreation Specialist, this Specialist will implement recreational programming that is inclusive, adaptive, and supportive for children, teens, and adults with various intellectual and/or physical abilities. Provides one to one support for youth through adults with varying abilities during recreation programs. Serves in a support staff role and helps facilitate communication between the Therapeutic Recreation division and participants. Works a part-time schedule, up to 18 hours a week, depending on program staffing needs.
Actively or graduated from an accredited college/university program with equivalent to two years or more of college at the time of application enrollment in a degree program such as Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation Management, Special Education, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, or Early Childhood Education is a plus. 1-2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities. Must have an understanding of behavioral characteristics associated with behavior disorders. Strong foundation in applied behavior analysis or other behavior modification techniques. Crisis Intervention Training preferred. Valid Massachusetts Driver s License is required. Starting Salary $15.50/hr. Resume and cover letter by October 16, 2019.
